Avery Dame-Griff is a Lecturer in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Gonzaga University. He founded and serves as primary curator of the Queer Digital History Project,<\/a> an independent community archive cataloging and archiving pre-2010 LGBTQ spaces online. He also maintains the Archival Internet Video Index<\/a>, which indexes video footage of pre-Internet and early Internet communication platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His first book, The Two Revolutions: A History of the Transgender Internet<\/a><\/em> (NYU Press, 2023) tracks how the Internet transformed transgender political organizing from the 1980s to the contemporary moment. Since publication, it has received both the 2023 \u00c1ngel David Nieves Book Award<\/a> from the American Studies Association’s Digital Humanities Caucus and the 2025 Computer History Museum Prize<\/a> from the Society for the History of Technology’s Special Interest Group for Computing, Information, and Society (SIGCIS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2022, he was selected to be a Public Humanities Fellow for Humanities Washington, developing a series of interactive online exhibits, teaching guides, and workshops about the history of LBGTQ+ communities in online spaces. For 2024-2025, he was a member of Humanities Washington\u2019s Speakers\u2019 Bureau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
